When is asbestos in the home dangerous?

This is a primarily visual survey, carried out by experts, to determine – so far as is practicable – the presence of any ACMs that could be damaged or disturbed by routine daily activities. If damaged or disturbed asbestos is located in the course of the survey, it will be sent for analysis at a UKAS accredited lab, and a subsequent report will provide findings and recommendations.
- Refurbishment and Demolition Survey. R&D surveys are mandatory for pre 1999 buildings where extensive refurbishment or demolition work is planned. The survey involves destructive inspection in order to access all areas of the building. If ACMs are located the asbestos will need to be removed by a licensed removals company prior to the work taking place.
