If your home was built prior to 1991 it’s probable that Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) were used in its construction. This is a visual survey, carried out by asbestos professionals, which locates, so far as is practicable, the presence of any ACMs that might be damaged or disturbed in everyday activities. If any damaged or disturbed asbestos is found, a sample will be sent off to our UKAS accredited laboratory and a report of its findings made available.
Refurbishment and Demolition Survey
Any planned refurbishment or demolition work on buildings constructed prior to 1991 requires a mandatory R&D asbestos survey. This is an intrusive survey which involves destructive inspection in order to access all areas. If any asbestos is discovered it will have to be professionally removed before the work can take place.
